What does a Vocational Expert (VE) do at a Social Security Disability or SSI hearing?

The Administrative law Judge (ALJ) will typically ask a hypothetical question to the expert which includes all of the person’s various medical and mental health limitations that are supported by medical evidence in the record. If your limitation is not supported in the doctor’s records then don’t expect that the Judge will take that seriously enough to add it. In addition the Judge will add information about your age, education and previous work experience.
