How do I provide for my pet after my death?

🐱Pet Estate Planning 🐶 What NOT to do…

Pets can truly be part of the family, which is why so many opt for setting up a pet trust to protect their future.

But there are definitely some things that should NOT happen when you plan:

🔺 DO NOT leave the pet money in the will (it isn’t legal and it won’t work). You need a pet trust where a human being manages the money to feed and care for the pet. You need to decide who will receive the money in the trust if the pet does not outlive the money.
🔺 DO NOT leave your pet to someone else (the new owner has no obligation to keep or care for the pet…not a good way to go). Instead talk to your family as to who would care for your pet. No surprises please.

This is why many consider a pet trust.
