When should I update my Trust or Will?–lesson 1

When should I update my Trust or Will?

All revocable living trusts and all wills should be reviewed every few years. So what should I be looking at if my beneficiaries are still the same?

Do I still have the best person named to be my Executor or my Successor Trustee. Sometimes when we start this process some members of our family may not have been that old or proven themselves capable of stepping up to the job. That can change over time. Also those that we originally named may have issues or problems that make giving them this responsibility not a good decision. So we need to rethink and decide who would be the best person for the job or whether we should even consider a professional such as a Bank trust department to be the executor and/or successor Trustee. Maybe your assets have grown significantly and a professional is what is needed.
