The Medicaid nursing home assistance program is a joint Federal-State program but with the feds and state sharing the cost. This has generally been nursing home care but there are a limited number of assisted living facilities in Illinois that are Medicaid facilities. This can be confusing because while there are federal guidelines the programs are actually administered by each state with their own separate set of rules. So you may read on the internet that the federal or state guidelines say this or that but you can’t assume that will be the case in your state. So you need to find an Elder Law Attorney in your state to get accurate and meaningful advice.
