When Parents Refuse Help!

On Behalf of | Mar 19, 2021 | Blog, Elder Law

“Mom is becoming forgetful and I’m worried…”

“Dad fell in the shower and nobody is there to help him, he’s all alone…”

“I want to get help for my parents but they refuse help…”

.

Sound familiar❓

.

If you’re concerned about your aging parent and they FLAT OUT REFUSE to get help or to even talk with you about it, then this is for you.

.

.

👉 There are good ways and bad ways to handle this situation.

To make sure you handle this the right way, make sure you:

▪️  Take it easy, take it SLOW.

▪️  LISTEN to their objections, figure out the root of the problem and reach an understanding.

▪️  Talk with LOVE, not demands (nobody likes being told what to do).

.

.

A word to the wise: don’t start any sentences that start with the word “you.”

If you’re worried about a parent, don’t hesitate to reach out. Let’s talk about it.
