It is a court-supervised process for administering a person’s estate.
That sounds okay at first, but here’s where it gets iffy:
❌ Probate makes it PUBLIC.
If you go through probate, anybody can access your detailed information about your
finances, property, and family member secrets.
❌ Probate takes up a lot of your TIME.
A simple probate proceeding can take many months to a year.
❌ Probate is expensive because of the additional work required in a court proceeding (even before debts are paid!).
